INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS-WHAT DO THEY MEAN?
From time to time, we are asked about the green and red lights that are seen on many homes within the Four Seasons POA. These are indicator lights for those homes that have individual on-site wastewater treatment systems. These indicator lights serve a valuable purpose. They indicate the operating condition of your individual on-site wastewater treatment system. The green light indicates that there is power going to the system. However, because these bulbs tend to burn out frequently from being on continuously, one cannot assume that there is no power going to the system if the green light is not on. The only way to know for sure is to inspect the system and see if the aerator motor is running. When the red light is on, it is a warning that there is a problem with the aerator motor. This could be something simple such as a minor electrical problem, to complete failure of the aerator motor. The Wastewater Department receives reports of red lights from the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, The Four Seasons Lakesites Owners Services Department, as well as homeowners and neighbors. When the Wastewater Department receives a report of a red light we will inspect the system and if it is a minor problem, we will repair it at no cost to the owner. If the problem turns out to be more serious in nature, such as aerator motor failure, the Wastewater Department will contact the owner to inform them of who they may call to have their particular type of system repaired. Also, if one of your indicator lights is burned out, you may contact the Wastewater Department to get a replacement bulb. In most cases we will have the correct bulb that you would need. However, some systems may have a different type of bulb that we do not have. In those cases we will assist you in where to get the correct bulb. If you have any questions regarding this subject or your wastewater treatment system and its operation, please call the Wastewater Department at (573) 552-8334.
